If a day under the great skies of West Texas sounds like a vacation, then the Lone Star State is the place to be. When the sun has peaked and you need to cool down, there are a few great places to visit if you need to cool down.
The Comanche Trail Park is a great place to enjoy nature, with live concerts at the amphitheater, golf on the rolling hills, fishing in the park's lake and fishing on Moss Creek Lake (400 acres), which includes a golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball courts and more. If you follow these suggestions for spring activities, families can go bowling, play putt - putt, shoot pools, watch a movie or shoot pool. The Big Springs Water Park offers a variety of water sports including swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking and diving, and provides a family-friendly environment that everyone can enjoy.
If you don't want to travel too far from the city, you can visit the Russ McEwen Family Aquatic Center in Big Springs Water Park on the east side of the city.
The Local History Museum in Big Spring features a variety of historic buildings and artifacts from the past, present and future of the city's history, including the historic Potton House and the Hangar 25 Air Museum. The famous Potton House, built in 1912 and officially registered as a historic site, can also be visited. Hangars 25 is home to the world's largest collection of used World War II aircraft and offers several cool events throughout the year. Speaking of art, the more artistic residents of Big Spring can meet at the Desert Flower Art Gallery to entertain with poetry readings, songs and stand-up comedy during the weekly open-air evenings. Catch art exhibited in the museum, as well as a variety of other events throughout the year, such as art fairs and art exhibitions.
Big Spring State Park is a popular hiking and biking spot, with fantastic views of the 200 foot high cliffs that await us. It is a great place for families if you are here for a long weekend, a week or more.
The Big Spring Symphony is an ensemble of over 50 musicians that has been performing since 1981. The music in the concert hall and the music in the parking lot remind us of how Big Springs used to be.
The Lady Steers have qualified for the UIL State Championships time and again and have traditionally been a strong contender for the State Championships in Women's Athletics. She was named an NCAA Division II All-American in both the 200 and 400-meter freestyle and the 800-meter relay.
The Lady Steers answered with an RBI single by Daniels to make it 4-3 in the top of the third, but Big Spring cut the deficit to one run with a two-run home run by Kaitlyn Brown. The Lady Bronchos pitched up on the way, and it backfired when they intentionally walked Daniels for the fourth time and they surrendered the game - a tie, two-run homer. She said the team has a plan in place in case the campaign is reduced to the final two weeks before the UIL state championships in May.
Daniels finished with a home run to make it 3-4, while Davila went 2-4 with a single, double and two RBIs. Salgado added to the victory for Big Spring (12-4, 4-1 UIL), going 3-3 with two doubles, a single and an RBI single. Sierra Camacho also went 2-3, while Hailey Prentice finished with an RBI double, two singles and three RBI that day.

Mrs. Mebane moved to West Texas 8 years ago and is licensed by the state of Texas and nationally certified for practice in OT. Ms. Miller has been working as an occupational therapist for over 17 years, is in the process of obtaining her certificate for hand therapy, and has been working in Big Spring, Texas for 3 years. After 6 years in the big Texas of spring she is now in practice as physical therapy. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 2001 with a Phlebotomy Certificate in Medical Assistance and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
